Chief Metallurgist

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline
• 10+ years of progressive metallurgical engineering experience within a metals manufacturing environment

Preferred Requirements:

• Master’s degree or higher in Metallurgy or Materials Science
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical process control methodologies

The successful Chief Metallurgist will provide technical leadership for metallurgical engineering activities while driving process optimization, product quality, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. This role will lead a team of metallurgical engineers, serving as the organization’s technical authority for materials processing, process development, and metallurgical performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the metallurgical engineering organization while serving as the primary technical authority for materials processing, forging, heat treatment, and manufacturing support
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes through metallurgical analysis, statistical methods, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, and operational performance
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve complex technical issues, improve process capability, and strengthen manufacturing standards
• Support new product development, material evaluations, and process validation while ensuring technical requirements are successfully integrated into production
• Develop technical talent by mentoring engineering staff, providing operational training, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
